Sizzling (The Buchanans, Book 3)

Sizzling - Susan Mallery Forthright & responsible nurse is fighting her crush on famous playboy & former professional pitcher Hero who hired her to be 1 of 3 nurses of his disagreeable grandmother. She doesn't think he'll return her attraction b/c she doesn't look like the type of woman he usually sleeps with yet she feels hurt that he didn't have sex with her like he did the other 2 nurses he hired. Hero likes her refreshing no-nonsense approach with him & his grandmother as she tells it like it is b/c she cares. They soon they have an affair which heroine thinks won't last long b/c of his track record with women. He sets out to prove to her that he's changed & that their r/s is different than his usual.

For about 2/3 of this Mallery book, I was disgusted with Hero & wondered why heroine kept persevering in what I thought was a hopeless r/s between them. Hero was a major man-ho who slept with countless women he couldn't even remember. I couldn't believe that heroine would continue pining after him when she found out about his manwhoring ways including the 2 nurses she worked with. She's supposed to be this stalwart & confident person who stands up for human decency yet she debased herself with Hero. She was so in lust with his good looks & was very insecure about her average-ness when compared to Hero's usual type that she lost focused of who she was.

The last 1/3 was better. The romance & main characters became healthier. Hero changed & became a more honorable & less self-absorbed person. He took heroine's blunt words by heart & changed for the better. Heroine also became less insecure as Hero continued to show her how serious he was becoming as a person & her romantic partner. Sexual chemistry & sex scenes were good. Emotional involvement was ok. There were quite a bit of secondary characters & a secondary romance both of which wasn't too interesting.

Recommended with limits.
