Imagine Love

Imagine Love - Katherine Stone Music teacher in small Louisiana town gets an unexpected visit from her 1st BF who suddenly left her after he accidentally killed his father 12 years ago. Famous singer Hero wanted to visit his hometown & see heroine one last time for closure. He is shocked to find out that heroine is blind & never really had a marriage. He invites her to sing a duet with him in London & she accepts. Their time in London sparks feelings b/w the 2 that never faded away. It also brings various people in their lives who seem to be linked to each other in some way. One is heroine's former penpal who stopped writing her about the same time heroine was abandoned by Hero. Heroine's penpal is a famous war reporter who's been getting threatening messages from a serial killer. An American FBI agent is sent to protect her & find the killer and his growing affection for heroine's penpal motivates him to protect her with his life. Another is a married sculptor whose work heroine's penpal has acquired. His secrets from his faithful wife increases her doubts about the future of their marriage.

Stone's writing had a lyrical quality to it. It made the main romance & the other secondary romances have a transcendent quality despite some serious content (i.e., physical abuse, rape, death, child kidnapping). The sexual content was not explicit & described in a poetic manner as the rest of the book. It fits with the fairy-tale & transcendent-love theme of the book. Characters showed depth & focused especially on how they survived their various life traumas. The intertwining of the characters' lives as the book unfolds adds to the drama & suspense of the book.

Highly recommended.
