A Love Stolen

A Love Stolen - Ella Jade Heroine comes back to town 6 years after her high-school boyfriend Hero tells her that he got another woman pregnant. Sheriff Hero is now recently divorced & wants a second chance with her. They soon rekindle their affair but will heroine take a chance to let him in her heart & life for good?

Nothing wrong with the writing. Easy to follow & speedy read. My low rating is due to how Hero’s emotional betrayal of heroine was handled.

----------------------------SPOILERS: Don’t read below if you don’t want to know the book’s details-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hero’s betrayal was downplayed. He had 1-night stand with another woman in town who got pregnant from it(accidental condom break?) during 1 of his usual breakups with heroine during their 3-year relationship. So technically it wasn’t cheating. BUT he was supposed to be in love with her still so, in my opinion, he was not emotionally true to her. What’s worse is that he chose to marry the other woman (OW) & not fight to make heroine forgive him & stay with him. He did make an attempt & said ‘no’ to being pressured by his parents to marry OW. But when he found out that heroine left town, he gave up easily & married OW. He didn’t even try to look for heroine & contact her to see if she’d give him another chance & problem-solve together a way he can support his baby with OW without marrying her. He just caved in to pressure. He was immature & made some unwise decisions. But instead of having Hero discussing & groveling for his mistakes with heroine, the author had heroine be this forgiving person who didn’t need Hero to do all that heart-talk because she already forgave him & moved on with her life. This book would’ve been much better if Hero was given the time & space he was willing to take to put his sorry heart on the line for her. It wouldn’t have compromised heroine’s matured & forgiving character. It would’ve given us a fuller understanding of how Hero has changed since.

Sexual chemistry & sex scenes were hot. I didn’t like how sex was used to bring Hero & heroine back together. Heroine got sexually involved with him quite easily, given that his betrayal of her was so bad & her heart was still not mended. Emotional tone of book was ok but could’ve been more angtsy & heart-rendering.

Recommended with limits.
