Shy & focused author accepts mercenary Hero's protection & help in finding her threatening stalker. They both want to keep their respective siblings who are married to each other & their young niece safe from the stalker's threats. Hero & his partners set up spy equipment in heroine's apartment to track the stalker & Hero also stays in her apartment to guard her. Their close proximity to each other leads to a steamy affair. Heroine wants more from Hero but settles for what he's able to give since he's averse to marriage. He has a hard time believing that someone as sweet & unsophisticated as her would choose to be with a mercenary like him permanently. This was a stimulating & sexy Monroe romantic suspense. Sexual chemistry leapt off the page & lead to some steamy sex scenes. Romance was endearing & made so by the characters. I liked Hero's alpha-maleness combined with his support heroine's career & encouraging her where she was weak. Heroine was also likeable in her simple tastes & independence. I liked her honesty & her challenging Hero to take a risk with her. Dialogue & storyline made this book fast-paced. The suspense part was predictable but still intriguing.
