Her Baby Secret
Fashion magazine editor got pregnant from a 1-night stand with old college friend Hero. She's having hard time telling him that she's pregnant & avoids him for weeks until he showed up at her work to pursue her. But she aggressively resists his pursuit & her attraction towards him due to her issues about being a woman & maintaining control. Being stranded in a cabin during a snowstorm tests her resistance.I typically like Lawrence's books. But what could've been a good romance was destroyed by the constantly argumentative & defensive heroine in this book. She kept on interrupting Hero's explanations & leapt to conclusions about Hero being a misogynist. I don't know if she was just hormonal b/c she was pregnant but it was difficult for me to believe that she was a business leader with the way she was acting. Heroine behaved in a bratty, impulsive, foolish, & inconsistent way with Hero. At first, I thought Hero was sweet & patient in taking heroine's barbs but he looked liked a pushover as her-trashing-&-his-taking-it behaviors continued on & on. It's a gender switch of the bad Harlequin tropes of a jerk Hero & doormat heroine. Ugh!
If you like abrasive heroines, read this one. If not, stay away.
