Give Him the Slip
Gorgeous & infamous daughter of British rockstar has always wanted a normal family life. She's been living in a small Texas town where she runs a business helping the town's senior residents with their everday needs. When she found batches of pychedelic mushrooms in her recently-deceased client's house, she finds her way to a DEA agent's boathouse for help but she found that the DEA agent just died & she's confronted instead by the DEA agent's attractive partner who also happens to be one of her client's estranged sons. In the midst of finding the drug culprit, Hero & heroine embark in an affair. But heroine is fearful about giving her heart to Hero due to having it broken by her 3 ex-lovers & Hero doesn't want to be in a committed r/s esp to someone like her who wants to live in his former hometown.This was a different romantic suspense read. It was light but not fluffy. The action-suspense was intriguing & surprisingly unpredictable. It wasn't gory or heavy at all. The romance was good & sexy but in a light, not-overly-dramatic way. Don't get me wrong. It got my emotions involved but not in an angtsy, nail-biting kind of way. The Hro's family issues were sad & even frustrating & makes me wonder how they play out in Dawson's consequent books. Although this was set in a small town, the characters were interesting but not in an annoying quirky way. This was an enjoyable, light-hearted read.
