Forbidden Love (Dell Historical Romance)

Forbidden Love - Karen Robards 17yo heroine takes care of her 36yo Earl guardian when he injures himself chasing after her when she runs away from him. She falls in love with him in the process. Hero tries to resist their strong mutual attraction but eventually succumbs to heroine's innocent seduction. But when heroine finds out he's married she leaves for London with his wife to flirt with other men for revenge. When she finds out she's pregnant with Hero's child, she keeps her pregnancy a secret & tries to find a malleable man to marry. Hero is not pleased & tries to sabotage her efforts.

Logistically, there were some things that bothered me in this book (i.e, Hero was married when he dabbled with heroine, hero slapped heroine). BUT Robards' knows how to write well & weave the story with emotional intensity so I liked this book anyhow. This book was a quick & emotionally-pulling read. Sexual chemisty, love scenes, & overall romance was good. The characters feelings & love for each other were displayed dramatically & they were definitely flawed people. Robards' was able to make sense & excuse hero's married status due to his long-estrangement with his sex-hating wife. They married & stayed married for convenience only. Hero slapping heroine was awful but, when he apologized to heroine & was emotionally beating himself up for it, I was convinced of his sincerity. Overall, this was an angtsy & sensual read.

Recommended.
