26yo heroine has acted as the primary caregiver of her 5yo & 6yo nieces since birth due to their party-loving older sister & her nieces call her Mom since her older sister died 4 years earlier. She & her younger sister don't publicize to those who don't ask that she's not her nieces' biological mother. She especially avoids their town's former black sheep & son of the town's most prominent family when he comes back to town. He doesn't know that he has 5yo daughter with her sister. Hero is persistent about dating heroine & wants to show her that he's changed in the 6 years he's been away. Heroine is likewise attracted but fears that getting close to Hero will inevitably lead to him discovering about his daughter. Their attraction proves too strong & they have an affair. How will Hero react when he finds out about his daughter? My 1st Boswell book & I liked it. The writing was emotionally impacting. The r/s between various characters were intertwined & there were 3 romances but the story was easy to track. The 2 secondary romances didn't distract from the main romance. There was depth of emotions & character. I was surprised at how some of the characters & the story unfolded. I liked that most of the characters were straightforward about important matters & didn't keep secrets when they learn about it. I made my reading anticipatory & reading go fast. Sexual chemistry & sex scenes were good. Hero's character development from self-centered & irresponsible jerk to a considerate & responsible one in 6 years was believable. He owned his past mistakes & selfish behaviors & didn't excuse or dwell on them. He showed his maturity through his actions.
