Meadowlarks (Meadowlarks, #1)

Meadowlarks (Meadowlarks, #1) - Ashley Christine 26yo heroine moved to Wyoming from Maine to start life over after her cheating ex-boyfriend physically assaulted her. She accepts a date from 29yo rancher Hero & they quickly enter into a relationship. In the next few months, their romance deepens as they find themselves spending time daily & immersing themselves with each other's friends & family. Their romance is without its glitches. A seductive female acquaintance isn't swayed by Hero's rejection. Heroine's attractive coworker is getting chummy with her. How do these challenges affect their relationship?

This book reminded me of a Harlequin Superromance. The main characters are ordinary people who fall in love & deal with some challenges in their relationship. What makes this book refreshing is that there are no big misunderstandings & any secrets are soon shared & any problems are dealt with without drama between Hero & heroine. Their relationship is pretty much even-keeled for the most part. They don't resist their feelings & tell each other how they feel for each other right away. Their open love declarations were said frequently & sometimes got sappy. It doesn't take long for them to consider marriage & do something about it. Hero & heroine are at a point in their lives where they're ready for more & being together makes it easy to want more together. This book flowed well & was easy to follow. It's all told from Hero's POV(point of view). Some sex scenes & not explicitly detailed. Characters were relatable & likeable.

Moderately recommended.
