By Royal Command (Royal Weddings) (Harlequin Presents #2414)

By Royal Command (Royal Weddings, #2) (By Royal Command, #1) - Robyn Donald Heroine is caught in a quick wedding ceremony with Hero in order to get her out of the dangerous war-torn island she's visiting for business purposes. They have a brief affair when Hero comes back from the local siege with both knowing that it's temporary. Heroine is surprised when Hero comes to her parent's home & announces that their marriage is legal. She is even more surprised when she finds out that the man she thought was a beachcomber is actually a prince. Hero proposes they stay married for 2 years b/c of the public's eye on them & its impact on his family's kingdom. Will heroine accept this marriage of convenience?

The good: good pacing due to emo-pulling writing. Sexual chemistry & sex scenes were sexy.

The not-so-good: The main romance challenge was weak & contrived. There were some family secrets that h wanted to keep concealed from the public for fear of her father's shaky health. The problem is that h already confessed to H her bigger family secret so holding back on their r/s due to her lesser secret didn't make sense. It only served to make her look stupid & a doormat, which she really wasn't. I didn't like H's arrogance & deception with h re: his true identity. His reason for not telling her he was a prince was b/c she didn't ask. Uh huh. He acted presumptuously by expecting h to just fall in line with his various lifestyles. His know-it-all attitude during their love confession at the end was irritating. He also acted coldly with h after their paradise fling. This H was skimming the line of jerk behavior at times. Overall, the positives of both H & h's characters outweighed the bad.

Partially recommended.
